When to Duplicate and When to Replicate
The comparison between CD duplication and CD Replication or DVD Duplication and DVD Replication is often discussed on forums and various companies websites. There are also those that unfortunately do not distinguish between duplication and replication. The likely reason for this is because these companies only offer one or the other service (normally duplication) and not the choice.
There are major differences between the 2 services and any reputable CD or DVD manufacturing company should be up front and honest about the differences and what best suits your individual needs.
Digital Disc Duplication, based in Florida, offer both services but clearly define the differences within their web pages - see CD Replication Review or DVD Replication review for examples.
The essential differences are quite simple. Replication is the ONLY method to produce true retail ready product that is 100% compatible. Duplication does not. You would not expect to buy a copy of the latest album from Madonna at your local record store and find it does not work on all of your CD players because it has been duplicated and not replicated.
So when is duplication favored over replication? There are 2 main advantages for duplication. Low quantity requirements (usually less than 500) and quick turnaround. CD Replication and DVD replication require more advanced stages such as glass mastering in order to complete your order and therefore take longer to produce. CD Duplication and DVD duplication however are simply CD-R’s or DVD-R’s copied on towers of burners and can often be completed within 48 hours. With thermal printed images onto the discs as well and even laser printed inserts available, CD Duplication or DVD Duplication services from Digital Disc Duplication can provide your exact requirements when needed to meet your deadlines or provide just the quantity required.
