The survey says….

In a recent poll regarding how consumers are buying and watching video, either movies or TV programs, it shows the DVD is still by far the most popular choice.

DVD Replication specialists Digital Disc Duplication USA have for a long time dismissed the concerns regarding downloads. Consumers still want product that feels value for money and simply downloading a file cannot provide that feel for value. The recent figures support this.

For movies alone 67% of those polled bought their movies on DVD within the previous 3 months while only 2% paid to download. More than half of those polled rented DVDs and only 18% paid for Video on Demand services.

In money terms, for every $10 budgeted for movies/video in any format it turns out that $8 of the $10 is spent on DVD. With 52% spent on actual DVD purchases, 29% on DVD rentals, 18% on movie theaters and only 0.5% on web downloads.

All the talk of downloads killing off the DVD replication industry is premature to say the least and in many cases purely scare tactics by marketing companies who would benefit more from a download only market place. It is these companies who treat al of us, the consumers as though we were idiots and I am pleased to say the statistics prove them wrong.

We therefore believe in the immediate future there should be no worry if you should or should not release your next project on DVD - the consumers have spoken and concluded it is a format they still want to buy.

Contact Digital Disc Duplication USA for a great quote for your next DVD project and let the consumer continue with their wise choice of format.
