Packaging offered by CD replication and DVD replication companies in the USA is very often advertised as being environmentally friendly due to the fact the materials used can be recycled or in some cases made from recycled (or part recycled) material. Digital Disc Duplication, based in Florida, support the use of recycled materials 100% and indeed offer such possible products as alternatives to the standard jewel case and so on. However, if some companies source the manufacturing of these recycled packaging alternatives overseas simply to achieve cheaper prices, doesn’t this defeat the object? The distance they travel and the carbon footprint they therefore carry with them surely makes them no more environmentally friendly than the jewel case!

At this time unfortunately such products do cost more to produce than using new raw materials but in time we all hope this will even out.
