Announcing THE platform for Hi-Def DVD!
So HD-DVD has moved aside to let Blu-Ray shine in the Hi-Def DVD front! FINALLY we can see direction for the DVD Manufacturing industry and now the consumer can complete their home entertainment suite safe in the knowledge that the film they want to buy WILL become available on the format they can play!! About time too!
Is it any wonder downloads become so popular? Imagine how much time, money and effort has gone into simply “arguing” over which format is best (Blu-Ray or HD-DVD - see our previous comments on Hi-Def DVD Replication formats) and now of course this expense will be passed on to the consumer with expensive hardware and a period when the new discs will be “over-priced”. All of this could and should have been sorted out before 2006 when the first Hi-Def releases started to appear. But what can us simple mortals do about the industry giants and their pride?
Well now the argument is over and the industry can hopefully start to move forward, we can now hope to see hardware manufacturers chipping in to produce quality players at the right price, software developers producing the authoring software at the right price and ultimately the movie, music and games industries to produce QUALITY products that consumers want at the right price! There is no longer an excuse to delay releases subject to formats, and no reason why the selling prices should be hiked. We’re all in this industry together, whilst it is easy to complain that sales are losing out to downloads and piracy etc it is now time to fight back and win back the faith of the consumer.
DVD Replication facilities now know what to invest in as do DVD Authoring studios so as more independents become able to offer the Blu-Ray production services, the more independent labels, film and game producers will be able to afford to create for the platform. The more choice on the market, the better for the consumer and the higher quantity of discs required should also help with keeping production costs down!
Here’s to a new era (at last!) where we can ALL benefit from true High Definition!
